Ralson Second Starter In Orienteering

J, Ralston, who finished second in the first orienteering trial for the New Zealand representative team selection for the 1973 Australian international event, has drawn second starting position in Sunday's third trial race to be held in the Waihou Forest, Maraetai.

He will be followed five minutes later by C. Battley, who finished second in the second trial event while the winner of the first two trials, D. A. G, Pirie will start ninth.

Thus an interesting race for fastest time honours should ensue between these three with the possibility of Battley and Ralston crowding each other into errors in their efforts not to be outclassed by the other.

Waihou Forest was the scene of the Australasian championships last November and is a rugged forest with steep hills and high ridges, offering excellent features for good, control positioning.

The first trialist will start at 9.30 and will be followed at five-minute intervals by successive runners.

The draw is:
R.King, J. Ralson, C. Battley, R. Leaming, A. Brown, R. Smith, J. Davies, A. Nicholls, D. Pirie, D. Townsend, G. Summerille.
